DAIVD NAVARA: FISHER CHESS HELPED ME

After two games the opponents Nikolay Kabanov (Russia ) and David Navara (Czech Republic) met at the press conference where they discussed the results of their fight.

David Navara: I am happy that managed to qualify for the 2nd Round without tie break games and won with a clear score. I was lucky in the first day; today’s game was not easy at all. My opponent made a good preparation and surprised me. I made a mistake, then another one and at some point Black had got an advantage. There was a non standard position where it was easy to blunder. But I play Fisher chess very well, I like these positions and as a result I managed to win.

Nikolay Kabanov: I can only say that my opponent is much stronger than me. Of course he was outplaying me. I made a lot of mistakes though I was better prepared to the opening.

-          David, how many times have you been to Khanty Mansiysk?

Navara: It is not easy to calculate even. It seems that this is the 5th time. I had participated in three previous Cups and also at the Chess Olympiad here. That is why I got accustomed to play here, I feel ok.

— Nikolay, is home an additional support to you?

Kabanov: On the opposite, it is an extra pressure for me. I feel that I am concerned, supported. — Nikolay, are you a professional chess player or you have some other activities, for instance, do you coach?

Kabanov: Yes, I work as a coach as well. My professional level is not that high to earn with chess only. So, I have to work as a coach as well though I like to play chess very much
