7th Governor’s Cup is a stage of the Russian’s Chess Cup that finished in Khanty-Mansiysk on the 8th of September.
Chess players represented 9 countries of the world. 154 players including 28 International Grandmasters, 9 International Masters, 8 FIDE Masters and more than 40 Candidates to the Master of Sports as well as 9 participants of the World Cup knocked out after the 1st Round participated in the Governor’s Cup. According to the results the winners were determined in various categories and nominations.
The 1st place in the category «veterans over 60 years old» was taken by the FIDE Maser from Surgut Vladimir Ivanets with the result of 5,5 out of 9. Evgeniya Sukhareva from Rostov Region showed the best result among the representatives of the beautiful part of human kind. She also gained 5,5 points. In the category «U-18» the winner is Kirill Kotlyar from Tyumen. The representative of Tyumen Anastasia Sazonova also became the winner of the same nomination among girls. Sergey Gordeev from Kogalym became the strongest among the chess players with the rating lower than 2100, and as for the players rated from 2100 up to 2400, it was the representative of Yamalo-Nentsky Autonomous Okrug FIDE Master Bogdan Belyakov.
The Grandmaster from Chelyabinsk Pavel Ponkratov having gained 7.5 points became the holder of the 7th Governor’s Cup. The winner of the previous year Grandmaster Igor Kurnosov from Chelyabinsk and Denis Khismatullin fromUfa gained 7 points each thus taking the 2nd and the 3rd places accordingly (as to the additional data).
