The Cuban Grandmaster Lazaro Bruzon came to the press conference after he finished his game against the Vietnamese chess player Le Quang Liem in a draw.
The journalists asked Lazaro to speak up about the match of the 2nd Round against Vallejo Pons Fransisco. — The match against Vallejo was very difficult. To my mind I was a little lucky.
— Two Cuban chess players managed to go till the 3rd Round. While only one Chinese player is here still. Can you explain this kind of state of affairs? — Yes, it is rather strange. At the beginning there were a lot of Chinese players. I don’t know what happened to them, they all lost. They are very strong Grandmasters. Their bad performance was a surprise indeed.
— What can you say about your opponent, a chess player from Vietnam Lie? — He is a very strong player. In general I am very happy with my performance by now. Last two World Cups were not that lucky for me: I used to be eliminated after the first round. So, I am trying to do my best, but it will be very hard to defeat him.
