Russian players Evgeny Tomashevsky and Dmitry Andreikin drew their second game of the Round 2. The winner of the first game Evgeny Tomashevsky advanced to the Round 3.
— Evgeny, could you tell us about your match? — In the first game my opponent had White. He pressed too hard, ended up in a worse position and failed to hold it. Today I played White and needed a draw to pass. If one plays accurately and avoids blunders, it is not a very difficult task.
— You already had a day off between the rounds. How did you spend it? — There was nothing special about it. I relaxed, walked around, and prepared for the next match. I also had time to deal with my cold. Tomorrow my second Alexey Iljushin and I will do something more exciting — one needs new impressions to remain fresh during the lengthy event.
— Did you follow the second game between Azarov and Gabrielian? — Frankly speaking, I didn't, because I was worried about my own game until the very end. Dmitry is a very resourceful tactician, so I couldn't afford to lose my focus against him.
— You team Economist (Saratov) will soon be defending its title at the European Club Cup. Who will play for the team this year? — The same people who played at the Russian Championship — all the Cup winners plus Ian Nepomniachtchi.
— Could you tell us more about the tournament that starts in October in your native Saratov? — The 80th anniversary of the Saratov State Socio-Economic will be celebrated by a big international tournament. The participants are all players of our team (it is possible that Ian Nepomniachtchi will be replaced by Alexander Morozevich) plus Peter Leko, Ruslan Ponomariov, Alexei Shirov, and Nikita Vitiugov.
