The tournament starts in the Open Stadium «Ugra-athletics» of Khanty Mansiysk tomorrow, 31 August.

The Governor’s Cup became another famous event of the sport’s calendar of Ugra. More than 120 chess players from 8 countries of the world will fight for the main trophy of the tournament. 20 of the participants have the International master title.

It is worth to mention that six participants of the World Cup who were eliminated after the 1^st round are intending to fight for the prize in the Governor’s tournament.

«For the two last years this tournament has a status of the Russian chess Cup stage. It is a shining symbol of the Okrug. Many chess players from all over the world are aware of the tournament. And it is very nice that the Grandmasters from far countries come to Ugra capital to participate in it», — noted the Sport Director of the Ugra Chess Federation Valery Ioshan.

Let us remind you that the 7th Governor’s chess Cup takes place in Khanty-Mansiysk from 31 August to 8 September. This FIDE rated tournament will be a 9 round swiss-system. The prize fund is more than 1.5 million rubles.
