THE CHESS-PLAYERS FROM 46 COUNTRIES WILL COME TO KHANTY-MANSIYSK

The World Chess Federation has published on its official site the full list of World Chess Cup’s participants — today, 15th of July 2011.

The full list of participants of World Chess Cup 2011, which starts on 27th of August in Khanty-Mansiysk, was formed. 128 chess players from 46 countries will participate in the chess tournaments. Salem Saleh (UAE), who was the winner of theZonal Championship, which finished yesterday, became the last challenger in the struggle for the trophy. The participants of the World Chess Cup 2011 will be World Champions, semi-finalists from the World Cup 2009, Woman’s World Champions, World Junior Champions 2009 and 2010, twenty rated FIDE qualifiers in 2010—2011, ninety players from Continental Championships of Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa in 2010—2011, six FIDE President nominees and also four organizer nominees.

It stands to mention, that the list of the participants almost fully consist of men. Only two chess-players — the World Champion among women 2010 HouYifan (China) and the third in the best chess-player rating of her country UditPolgar (Hungary), will contend to win the Cup on equal terms.

On the World Cup Ugra will be presented by International Grand Masters NikolayKabanov, Aleksey Bezgodov, Aleksey Pridorozhniy and Vladimir Genba.
